The Wing River House was given by John Wing to Operation Grateful Nation (OGN), the 501 c3 he established to help veterans almost a decade ago. It is a place where veterans can go with their family and friends, to enjoy peaceful, relaxing time on the river.
Located on the banks of the beautiful St. Lawrence River, in Massena, New York, the Wing River House is a fully equipped vacation home. John originally purchased the home in 1988 for his aging parents. After they passed away, he decided to turn it into a space for wounded veterans to recover and rejuvenate with their families and friends after coming home from war. Today, the house is available for all members of the armed forces to enjoy.
The Wing River House is open year-round. No matter the season, visitors enjoy the expansive grounds, the St. Lawrence River’s recreational opportunities, and local attractions. In the spring and summer, the area is in bloom, with hiking, swimming, fishing, boating, and other outdoor opportunities. In the fall, hunting and leaf peeping are popular. In the winter, skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice skating and ice fishing are each huge draws, and there’s no better time to enjoy the fireplaces in the house than on a cold winter’s night. At any time of year, the Wings River House is an ideal place to just sit back, relax, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
